The Bureau of Standards Big Band

The Bureau of Standards Big Band is a 20-member ensemble that, true to its name, recalls the halcyon days of Ellington at The Cotton Club, Ella at The Savoy, and the Rat Pack at The Sands. Featuring the best of the big band hits from the 1930s through the 1960s, the band shifts easily between your favorites from Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and contemporary artists like Michael Buble, Natalie Cole and Harry Connick Jr. With charismatic vocalists Matthew Gailey and Tara Williamson, energetic director and trumpeteer James M Gregg, and the sizzle and soul of 17 of the finest musicians in town, The Bureau of Standards seeks to entertain with swingin' music, levity and laughs, stylish stage presence and audience participation. It's a show you can't see anywhere else in town!

3/9/12 - UPCOMING SHOWS ANNOUNCED!
We're excited to be kicking into spring with 20 pieces of swing and fling!
Not only do we have a few great shows at our home-away-from-home Tony Starlight's Supperclub & Lounge the last Fridays of March and May, we just confirmed that we'll be performing at the NW Film Center's 40th Anniversary Gala at the Portland Art Museum, backing the fantastic vocalist China Forbes! We're big fans of China's work with Pink Martini and we're looking forward to performing with her at this celebration. And hey, who wouldn't want to go to a party where Gus Van Sant will be holding court?
We're also booked for the Lake Oswego Summer Concert Series in July, and we're working on a handful of other great shows as the summer months arrive. Keep your eyes and ears open for more fabulous chances to see the BOSBB in all it's swingin' glory!
