Dan Schlesinger, trombone

Dan's musical career began in elementary school as he learned to play the cornet, but soon switched to the baritone horn. Exposure to the world of jazz led Dan to also pick up the trombone. As a high school student, Dan attended the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan where he sat first chair baritone horn. College studies took Dan from his home in Cleveland, Ohio to Rice University in Houston, Texas where he earned bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering. While subsequently working in California, Dan played trombone in jazz bands at Cal State Long Beach and Orange Coast College. Dan's career has also taken him to Germany, but he has chosen to settle in Portland where he manages the Computer-Aided-Engineering analysis department at Freightliner. Dan has played euphonium in the Oregon Symphonic Band for a number of years and has also performed with the band as a featured soloist. Local playing credits additionally include the Oregon Symphony and the Pioneer Brass.
