Don Brizendine, drums

Don began taking drum lessons when he was 9 and played in Junior High and High school jazz bands, marching bands and orchestras. He attended U of O after High School and majored in music. Don then continued on to college and graduated from PSU, having studied music there as well. While in high school and college, he taught private lessons and played in numerous bands. The bands consisted of mostly rock and blues, but there were times he also played with country bands (Don says "I needed the money"). After he graduated from college, Don took a 10 year hiatus from drumming (physically, but not mentally) due to life: marriage, work, kid, room to play, etc. Since then he has been very involved playing in jazz combos, community bands and orchestras, and teaching private lessons. Don has been playing with the Bureau of Standards since the beginning and says "I have never had so much fun!" Besides drumming, Don is an avid road cyclist and just completed his 5th Cycle Oregon in September (450 miles in Northeastern Oregon this year).
